Welcome Back!!!

The last 15 minutes of each class will be devoted to completing and reviewing homework from your major math class.  Bring your text, homework and questions to class.

This class is designed for those students who would benefit from an additional math class in order to prepare for the MCAS exam.

In addition to reviewing concepts and skills, the class will examine
different techniques used to answer various types of test questions. A small portion of class time will be set aside for homework help for the "major" mathematics class.

Topics reviewed/covered:
Order of operations          Statistics             Absolute Value             Patterns
Solving equations and inequalities                                 Area/Perimeter/Volume
Variation                                 Linear Equations              Percents
Reflections and Rotations         Square Roots                  Estimation          Ratios

Responsibility:
It is your responsibility to be prepared and on time for class everyday. Preparation includes
having your sharpened pencil, notebook, calculator and homework ready when class begins.

Grading Policy: Participation, effort, classwork, homework and effort are all included in the
grading process. This class is pass/fail.

Homework: Occasionally homework problems will be assigned. I expect that you will try
your best to answer them, show all your work and be able to explain your thought process to
the class.

Attendance:
Attendance is required in this math class. I will adhere to the school's policy on unexcused
absences and/or frequent tardies. Be sure to have your parent/guardian call the school before
10:00 a.m. on any day that you are absent so that you will be excused.
First Unexcused Absence: The teacher assigns the student detention for the teacher's next J block.
Second Unexcused Absence: Absence is reported to the students' housemaster who then assigns the student an administrative detention. Parents are notified by telephone call or comment slip.
Third Unexcused Absence: The student will receive a grad of "N" (failure due to poor attendance) for the term.
Three Unexcused Tardies = One Unexcused Absence
